In the week after President Trump's second inauguration, attendance dropped 20% as families feared their children wouldn't be safe from the crackdown on immigrants by ICE, superintendent Chris Kilbride said in a video interview. District employee Yibeli Lopez, who came to the United States from Honduras at 17 years old to reunite with her mother in the Overland neighborhood, attended the International Welcome Center and said it made a 'huge impact' in her life and career.
